Halloween costume: The Half Gov

Palin rears her head Went to the Halloween party and then left after 20 minutes. In other words, I went as Sarah Palin.

I tried really hard to be as empty-headed as Palin, but couldn't quite get there. So I drank some more and I think I got close.

Then I freaked out because I realized if I could see Russia from my house, THEN RUSSIA COULD SEE MY HOUSE AND PUTIN WAS TOTALLY GONNA REAR HIS HEAD INTO IT!!!!!

And that's when Halloween got scary.

Fox News not helping Sarah Palin

Has Palin pissed off Fox News? Or will memos come from management ordering them to do an about face?

Sarah Palin went to war against an Alaska affiliate of CBS on Sunday, but she got little back-up in her struggle from her employer, Fox News.

Fox reporter Dan Springer says he could find no evidence of bias against Republican Senate candidate Joe Miller by CBS affiliate KTVA.

Palin surprised Fox's Chris Wallace Sunday with the claim that reporters from the CBS news affiliate in Anchorage, Alaska, had conspired to create negative news stories about Miller.

Can't we all just get along?

Why Jon Stewart is the most trusted name in news.

Megachurch pastor comes out as gay

The pastor of a Georgia megachurch has come out as a gay man.

The pastor of a Rockdale County megachurch has publicly announced he is gay.

Jim Swilley, bishop of Conyers’ Church in the Now, said he hopes his coming out will change attitudes toward homosexuality.

“I know a lot of straight people think it is a choice. It is not,” Swilley told Channel 2’s Diana Davis.

Swilley, 52, founded the church 25 years ago. He seemed the stereotypical picture of a pastor, with four kids and a wife who doubled as his associate pastor. But Swilley said he's known he was gay since he was little boy. He said his wife, Debye, also knew his secret from the start.

“I think some women marry gay men because they really think they can change them,” Swilley said.

The now-divorced couple kept their secret for 21 years, but earlier this year, Swilley said Debye told him it was time to stop living a lie.

School board member wants gays to die

He also says he'd disown his kids if they were gay. Such a nice man. Really makes you want to be a Christian, doesn't it?

An Arkansas School Board member recently launched an inflammatory anti-gay tirade on Facebook that ran the gamut from basic bigoted slurs, to encouraging "fags" to commit suicide and announcing that he'd disown his own children if they were gay.

In response to a a massively popular Facebook initiative to show support for gay youths in response to a recent wave of suicides, Clint McCance, a board member in the Midland school district in northern Arkansas, wrote this screed, provided to the Advocate:

"Seriously they want me to wear purple because five queers killed themselves. The only way im wearin it for them is if they all commit suicide. I cant believe the people of this world have gotten this stupid. We are honoring the fact that they sinned and killed thereselves because of their sin. REALLY PEOPLE."

The reaction to the post was both positive and negative, the Advocate reports. McCance responded to one detractor, saying:

"No because being a fag doesn't give you the right to ruin the rest of our lives. If you get easily offended by being called a fag then dont tell anyone you are a fag. Keep that shit to yourself. I dont care how people decide to live their lives. They dont bother me if they keep it to thereselves. It pisses me off though that we make a special purple fag day for them. I like that fags cant procreate. I also enjoy the fact that they often give each other aids and die. If you arent against it, you might as well be for it."

Just like Nazi brownshirts

What IS it with these fascist and violent Rand Paul supporters? Just what kind of country do they want? Looks like at the same event where the vicious head stomping took place, someone else was threatened by Rand Paul's thuggish supporters.

Michael Grossman, a 60-year-old Conway supporter from Kentucky, claimed that at roughly the same time a MoveOn.org activist's head was being stomped on, he was being threatened by a "massive" Paul backer.

"I attended the rally simply as a supporter of the process and a supporter of Jack Conway," Grossman said. "[Suddenly] I feel this heavy hand coming down on my left shoulder and some thug from behind, who happened to be massive, was trying to throw me down to the ground backwards to join Ms. Valle [the MoveOn activist]... to join that 'other communist supporter,' which is kind of how I was described simply because I had a Jack Conway sign... He then just berated me in language that was quite frankly, just totaling inappropriate for any forum. At the top of his lungs he was cursing me, calling me a communist and a socialist, he said I ought to be back in California and New York with the rest of the scum. That was about it. I left after that. It scared me."

Teabagger wants victim to apologize to him

Proving once and for all that teabaggers are as insane as they are violent and vicious, the Rand Paul staffer who stomped on a defenseless woman's head wants the VICTIM to apologize to HIM.

Tim Profitt, the Rand Paul supporter behind the white sneaker that notoriously stomped on a MoveOn activist's head in Kentucky, sought to play down the importance of the incident Tuesday, and went so far as to ask the victim for an apology.

"I don't think it's that big of a deal," Profitt told WKYT. "I would like for her to apologize to me to be honest with you."

Meg Whitman "endorses" Jerry Brown

This is absolutely devastating for Meg Whitman. She's just "endorsed" her opponent, Jerry Brown.

Rand Paul supporters stomp on woman's head

Glenn Beck is constantly railing against liberals and Obama for being "Nazis," but if you're looking for Brownshirts, here they are.

Rand Paul supporters knock down and stomp on a woman's head. See video of the incident here.

So far, Rand Paul is refusing to condemn the attack. The teabaggers are busy spewing their usual response, that this was done by "liberal plants"... except that one of the two men responsible has been identified and is indeed a Rand Paul supporter.

Proof that Republicans don't care about America

Here's the proof that Republicans don't care about the real problems this country is facing, they only care about "getting" Obama. The country can go to hell, just so long as they can get that black guy out of the White House. So don't be fooled that they care how many people are out of work. They don't plan to do a damn thing about jobs, because they want this country as bad off as it can be so that they can blame Obama for it. They WANT this country to go down the tubes, just so they can score political points.

Mitch McConnell admits to The Limbaugh Strategy of only caring about the 2012 Presidential Election

from Crooks and Liars by John Amato

When Rush Limbaugh started president Obama's term off by saying he hoped that Obama would fail, it wasn't a shock to progressives because that's what he does, but the Villagers all were kind of laughing it off as just an entertainer having some fun. Why would somebody want the government to fail when America faced a complete financial meltdown which would be followed by a depression that would have gutted everybody? We've witnessed the Republican tactics of obstructionism and they've done all they could to stop progress from happening, but never clearly defined it as an attempt to make Obama fail, but McConnell is not holding back any longer.

Political Wire caught Mitch McConnell saying this to the National Review:

"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."

Shouldn't Mitch be worried about how people are going to deal with the fraudulent foreclosure mess and getting people back to work instead of his party politics? McConnell is also posturing for the Tea Partiers, but when a country is struggling so much to recover mass job losses one would think that our politicians would do the best they could at trying to help struggling Americans. Not true with Republicans. They never cared about 'you." They only care about their real constituents, Big Business and about the 2012 presidential election.

Bush's biggest regret

With the recent collapse of banks fresh in our memory, President Bush still has the nerve to admit that his greatest regret was not putting Social Security in the hands of the system that nearly destroyed this nation.

But, thank you President Bush, for reminding America what the Republicans are all about, even as they scramble to hide their support of privatizing Social Security, desperately trying to find other euphemisms for it.

Obama to appear on The Daily Show

President Obama will be taping an appearance on Jon Stewart's The Daily Show on October 27, just before the midterm election. Obama has recently endorsed Stewart's Rally For Sanity, to be held in Washington DC on October 30.

The last time Obama appeared on the show was as candidate. This will be his first appearance as President, and if I'm not mistaken, the first appearance by a sitting American president on Stewart's program.

All terrorists are Muslim?

Brian Kilmeade of Fox News keeps insisting that "all terrorist are Muslim." He's wrong, of course.

But okay, if he wants to say that, then I say that all doctor killers and clinic & courthouse bombers are Christian.

America's biggest d-bag

In addition to be America's biggest douche bag, Carl Paladino is also America's biggest hypocrite. After viciously bashing gays (after a horrific anti-gay hate crime in New York), it's now been revealed that he's rented to gay clubs and his son has even run one.

paladino-beastiality-porn State liquor license records show that New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino had once collected rent from two gay clubs located in buildings he owned in downtown Buffalo, according to a published report.

The report in the Daily News on Wednesday comes just after Paladino told a group of Orthodox Jewish leaders that he opposed schools for what he called "brainwashing" of students into thinking that being gay is just another choice and "not the way God created us."

The newspaper reported that a club named Cobalt operated as a gay bar in 2004 and most of 2005 and was run by Paladino's son, William. It was housed in a building owned by one of Paladino's many companies, Huron Group LLC, the newspaper said. The club was run under another corporate name.

Paladino tries gay bashing

NY governor hopeful Carl Paladino seems to have had no problems with sending out pictures of women having sex with animals, but he certainly doesn't like TEH GAY. He's now turned to gay-bashing as his latest campaign tactic, and right as there's been a vicious anti-gay hate crime.

Another terrorist inspired by Glenn Beck

A domestic terrorist reveals himself to be a big fan of Glenn Beck. I know you're all surprised.

This past summer, as the SF Chronicle reported at the time, a convicted felon named Byron Williams "loaded up his mother's Toyota Tundra with guns, strapped on his body armor and headed to San Francisco...with one thing in mind: to kill workers" at the ACLU and the Tides Foundation, hoping to "start a revolution."

On Monday, the progressive watchdog group Media Matters for America will release an interview it conducted with Williams in which he explains that Glenn Beck's Fox News show "blew his mind."

MEDIA MATTERS: When you talk about how conservative values have been lost in this country you were talking before about the liberal media. You were saying maybe Fox was the exception. You think Fox is worthwhile?

BYRON WILLIAMS: Well, I'm not gonna say anyone is worthwhile. But [unintelligible] I would've never started watching Fox if it wasn't for the fact that Beck was on there. And it was the things that he did, it was the things he exposed that blew my mind. I said, well, nobody does this.

"All of you know who I am..."

The presidential seal falls off the podium during Obama's speech (cue right wingers claiming this is a sign from God), but Obama handles it masterfully: "All of you know who I am" (cue right wingers calling him arrogant for saying that).

Our justice system convicts another terrorist

Another terrorist convicted and sentenced to life in prison by our maligned (by right wingers) criminal justice system. So let's stop this nonsense that terrorists can only be tried by military tribunals.

AP NEW YORK – A Pakistani immigrant who tried to set off a car bomb in Times Square was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison by a judge who said she hopes he spends time behind bars thinking "carefully about whether the Quran wants you to kill lots of people." Full Story

If Republicans take over...

Wanna see what the country would be like if Republicans take over? You don't have to imagine, all you have to do is see how life is in an area where Republicans have complete, total control:

Firefighters Watch As Home Burns Down; Owner Didn’t Pay $75 Subscription Fee

Is this what would happen with privatization?  Obian County, TN homeowner Gene Cranick didn’t pay the yearly $75 subscription fee to the fire department, so firefighters just watched as his home burned to the ground, even though Cranick offered t pay whatever it took to put out the blaze.

Think Progress reports that not only is Mayor Crocker Republican, but so is every member of the county commission.

Breitbart turns on O'Keefe

okeefebreitbart Breitbart turns on O'Keefe... as in, he's throwing his protégé under the bus.

Andrew Breitbart, who enabled (and some say, orchestrated and paid for) James O'Keefe's dishonest campaign to shut down ACORN with heavily-edited videotapes, is now publicly calling for O'Keefe to apologize for his attempted "love boat" video scam of CNN reporter Abbie Boudreau.

"[In] my dealings with [CNN reporter Abbie] Boudreau, she and her producer, Scott Zamost, conducted themselves professionally, and I believe James owes them a candid and public explanation," Breitbart wrote Friday evening.

"From what I’ve read about this script, though not executed, it is patently gross and offensive. It’s not his detractors to whom he also owes this public airing. It’s to his legion of supporters."

When O'Keefe and fellow conservative activist Hannah Giles released the tapes last fall, purporting to show ACORN employees advising them on how to set up a child prostitution ring, the story was promoted heavily by Fox News and swallowed uncritically by most of the mainstream media. It resulted in Congress acting to de-fund the organization.

Agreement!

Well, there's at least one thing congressional Democrats and Republicans can agree on: China.

There's a reason why Democrats and Republicans, who seemingly can't agree on anything these days, voted by an overwhelming 348 to 79 margin in the House of Representatives on Wednesday to get tougher on China, threatening to impose tariffs unless it stops manipulating its currency.

There is no doubt that China artificially undervalues the renminbi -- by somewhere between 20 and 40 percent -- and plays fast and loose with World Trade Organization rules to give its exports huge competitive advantages.

If it could somehow be convinced not to do so any more, Chinese products and labor would suddenly become much more expensive. The ensuing shift in cost-benefit analyses would likely generate hundreds of thousands of American jobs. The total cost to the U.S. Treasury would be zero.

What's up with Rick Sanchez?

What's up with Rick Sanchez? Suddenly he seems to have gone on some kind of bender. On a Sirius/XM radio show, he blasted Jon Stewart, calling him a bigot, and said that Jews run CNN and all media.

He's also involved in some sort of feud with Keith Olbermann.
