Glenn Be k

What is either funny or sad, depending on how you look at it, is that not one single staffer present during the taping of this, er, abortion of a segment on the Glenn Beck show had the nerve to correct the unstable Mr. Beck. Or else they were all too stupid to catch the error.

Glenn Beck and freedom of speech

Glenn Beck is ratcheting up the paranoia. He was on with Bill O'Reilly the other night, complaining about all the advertisers who have pulled out of his show after he called the president a racist and said that Obama hates white people (which I assume includes the white members of his own family).

Then Beck went for the "They're taking away my right of free speech!" whine.

Sigh.

Alright, Glenn, let's talk about free speech. You seem to be forgetting that the advertisers have freedom of speech too – they can decide for whatever reason whether or not to advertise on your show. And let's not forget that Americans whom you offend have free speech too – they can call for boycotts and call you a doo-doo-head and ask Fox News to fire you. That's freedom of speech too.

But let's look at Beck's idea of free speech. He seems to be equating free speech with his "right" to have a cable show with a lot of viewers and advertisers, and if his show is taken from him, his free speech rights would be "violated."

So for Beck, free speech = big cable show.

Okay. So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to call Fox News and demand they give me a big cable show, preferably a spot right next to Beck.

If Fox turns me down (and I'm sure they will), then I'm going to start screaming rudely and incessantly how they're VIOLATING MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH! (as defined by Glenn Beck.)

Thank you, Glenn, for this new and extremely interesting definition of freedom of speech. Our founding fathers intended for all Americans to have big cable shows with lots of advertisers. They'd be rolling in their graves if they knew Kraft had decided to not hawk their macaroni & cheese on your show.

It's just so amusing, because I seem to remember this alternate universe where right wing pundits called for boycotts – and some called for the arrest – of the Dixie Chicks when they criticized President Bush. And some of those pundits were on Fox News! Couldn't have happened. Why the hell would they try to "take away their freedom of speech"?

The public option

Eight in ten support public option.

Poll finds 86% believe health care 'should be available to everyone.'

The (racist) cat is outta the bag

It really IS because Obama is blackgreatwhitehope !

U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins told a recent gathering in northeast Kansas that the Republican Party is looking for a "great white hope" to help stop the political agenda of the Democratic party and President Barack Obama.

Quitstock rolls on

Sarah Palin's new thing is to quit everything she can.

Her game is now clear: Book an event, then cancel at the last minute and claim you never "confirmed" you'd be there.

Organizers of an Anchorage event that has been billing Sarah Palin for weeks as a star speaker were left scrambling Wednesday after learning that the former governor won't be there for tonight's event and claims to have never been asked.

It would be at least the fourth time in recent months that an anticipated Palin speech has fallen through after Palin and her camp disputed they had ever confirmed it.

Hate-filled assassins belong to hate-filled Christian church

One of the nutcases carrying loaded weapons to an Obama event belongs to Steven Anderson's church -- the Christian pastor who said that God wants Obama dead. The guy who prays for Obama's death every night.

Does anyone still doubt they are actively inciting the assassination of the president?

Just so you know who you're dealing with: the people bringing guns are religious terrorists, no different than the religious terrorist who flew planes into buildings on 9-11. No different.

Beck slips deeper into insanity

As I expected, Glenn Beck is playing the recent loss of advertisers to his show for all the victim cards he can pull out of the deck, claiming that it's all some vast conspiracy of the "evil" in the Obama White House to "target" him. He's even hinting that they're going to kill him.

This is what I'm talkin' 'bout

After all attempts at compromise and negotiation have failed, THIS is how all Democrats should respond:

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

If the Democrats had balls…

If the Democrats had any balls, this is what they should do on health care reform. They should finally open their eyes and realize that you cannot reason or negotiate with a party that wants Obama dead. Then they should tell the Republicans the following:

We need health care reform. The American people say we need health care reform.

You said no.

So we took national health care off the table.

You said no.

We took a single payer system off the table.

You said no.

Then we floated the idea of taking the public option off the table and replacing it with private insurance company-run co-ops.

You said no.

So here's what we're going to do. We're going to nationalize health care and take over every hospital and every doctor. And we're going to pass a single payer system to cover all Americans.

Except for the idiots bringing guns to shove in the president's face… Those assholes will get NO coverage. When they accidentally shoot themselves, they can fucking pay the hospital bill out of their own pockets. Furthermore, they don't get Medicare, and we'll keep their Social Security checks when they retire. You whined about "pulling the plug on grandma"? You ain't seen nothin' yet.

In other words, Republicans, we're adopting the attitude of George W. Bush, and because Obama won the election and Americans voted in a Democratic majority in both houses of Congress, we're saying to you loudly, plainly and without equivocation:

SUCK IT.

They hate America. They are terrorists.

And here's proof that the gun carriers are anti-American:

One explains that he carries his gun because he will "resist" the will of the majority. In other words, if the vote doesn't go their way, they'll start shooting.
And GOP spokes-holes support and encourage the gun carriers. Right there is proof that the GOP is a terrorist organization OPPOSED to the entire idea of American government.

Shocked that I call them terrorists? What else do you call the idea they appear to be promulgating, that "if we don't get the votes, we'll bring out the guns"?

According to local police, approximately a dozen people carrying firearms outside the Obama event yesterday.

And now the health-reform opponent carrying an AR-15 Assault Rifle (or perhaps the group he's affiliated with) has produced a Youtube video which leaves little question where they stand -- "We will forcefully resist people imposing their will on us through the strength of the majority with a vote." Watch the Video.

Don't believe in God? You're not alone.

"Don't believe in God? You're not alone."

What is it about that innocuous message that turns some Christians into an angry mob that demands that these messages be censored? It's not an attack on them. It's not an attack on their religion. So what is it about that message that freaks them out?

Gun Zones!

Back in the Bush days, they had these things called "free speech zones" at his events, where all those who disagreed were "allowed" to congregate and "exercise" their free speech "rights"… behind fences or barricades, and out of sight of media and cameras. And of course, out of sight of everyone else attending the event.

Nowadays we have people bringing guns to health care town halls and appearances by President Obama. Here's a terrific idea – let's set up "2nd Amendment Zones" where everyone carrying a gun will be "allowed" to congregate and "exercise" their gun rights!

And for safety's sake, these "gun zones" should be inside bullet proof rooms, like, say, a trailer or something. You know, in case they want to start shooting each other.

And of course, before we let them out, we'll require they show their original birth certificates… Long form, mind you!

And if they can't produce their original birth certificates – why, they'll stand before the… (duh duh DUUHHHHHHH!) Death Panel!

For the love of all the gods, Sarah, just go away

Death panels, Sarah Palin says. Obama's going to set up death panels. Er, okay, crazy lady. As if many people haven't already faced "death panels" when massive insurance companies decided which treatments they weren't going to cover, and you had to die so they could continue increasing their profit margin.

Keith Olbermann had another must-see special comment tonight, about the irresponsibility of Palin's insane comments, and what all this is really about.

Fearmonger much, Sarah?

Sarah Palin says President Obama wants to kill her Down Syndrome baby.

Hey Sarah, you're an idiot.

GOP thugs issuing death threats

Let me get this straight.

Corporate lobbyists and right wing media machines are organizing so-called "grass roots" protests at Democratic health care town halls for the sole express purpose of shutting down discussion. That is their idea of "democracy." To keep the other side from talking.

But if health reform supporters also want to participate, that engenders death threats from the white wing thugs.

I think we can all see who the real Nazi brownshirts are, my friends.

PA mass murderer hated women, Obama and black men. AP omits racist rants from its reporting.

The PA man who walked into a fitness center and began shooting allegedly did so because of his complaints that women didn't like him and that he hadn't had a girlfriend since 1984. The mass murderer apparently targeted women in his shooting rampage.  That was all in the AP news story that ran earlier.

But what the AP left out of the story is that the mass murderer was also incensed that a "black man" had won the presidency, and his web site contained racist and anti-Obama rants. It is unclear why AP decided to omit these items in their coverage of the killer's online diary.

George Sodini, the shooter, writes in a post dated Nov. 5, 2008. “Good luck to Obama! He will be successful. The liberal media LOVES him. Amerika has chosen The Black Man. ”

The same entry remarks that black men have “thier choice” [sic] of young white “hoez” [sic].

“Black dudes have thier choice of best white hoez,” Sodini writes. “You do the math, there are enough young white so all the brothers can each have one for 3 or 6 months or so.”

Later, Sodini writes of the President, “But I got a promotion and a raise, even in this shitty Obama ecomomy.”

Enough is enough. The white wing and the racist partition of the GOP continues to throw gasoline on the fire and continues to stoke racial hatred in their opposition to Obama. The last round of mass murders in the country have a large element of anti-Obama hatred and the conspiracy theories spewed by Limbaugh, Fox News hosts and others of the racist wing.

In my voting life, I have always endeavored to vote for the candidate that best represents my interests, or barring that, was most qualified and had the best temperament for the job in order to get things done, regardless of whether that candidate was Republican or Democrat. Yes, most of the time that meant I was voting for Democrats, but not always.

No more. I don't care which Democrat or which Republican is running. I will never, ever vote for a Republican again. I used to be a big believer in the idea that America always needs an opposition party -- forcing the wings of government and politicians to compromise with each other usually meant that the interests of all Americans were protected. But now that the GOP has wholly given in to race baiting, to the point that we have now had several mass murders occur, it is time to recognize that the GOP, as a political party, has become a cancer on our system, and their presence is no longer healthy in our society.

They have blood on their hands. Way too much blood.

It is time for the GOP to go away, and for another, less hate-filled conservative party to rise in its place. A conservative party that is more interested in what's best for America than in just finding every single possible way to hate the person in the other party. A conservative party less given to conspiracy theories and race baiting, and more given to a love of our country and the diverse people who make it up.

Never again will I vote for a Republican, even if the Republican is the saintliest of human beings and the Democrat is a venal, corrupt criminal. Put the "R" next to your name, and as far as I'm concerned, you share in the blood that's been killed by racist and right wing mass murderers. Begone! and trouble decent society no more!

"I'm not crazy!"

If you want to let people know you're not a crackpot, there's nothing like screeching "I'm not crazy!" on TV to convince people you're TOTALLY normal.
