What the McCain campaign doesn’t want people to know, according to one GOP strategist I spoke with over the weekend, is that they had an ad script ready to go if Obama had visited the wounded troops saying that Obama was...wait for it...using wounded troops as campaign props. So, no matter which way Obama turned, McCain had an Obama bashing ad ready to launch. I guess that’s political hardball. But another word for it is the one word that most politicians are loathe to use about their opponents—a lie.

McCain had another ad ready to go
Just as I thought, had Obama visited those wounded troops in Germany, McCain would have bashed him for that.

Republicans: "Learning BAD!"
Obama made a comment the other day that it might be a good idea for American kids to learn at least one foreign language. I don't know how anyone can attack that as something bad... But I guess right wingers can.
This is all in our heads
This is all in our heads, according to McCain's economic advisor.
Oil sets new record above $147 a barrel NEW YORK - Oil prices spiked to a new record above $147 a barrel Friday, as rising hostilities between the West and Iran and the potential for attacks on Nigerian oil facilities gave investors reason to rush back into the energy markets. Stock drop on Fannie, Freddie; Dow below 11,000 NEW YORK - Stocks are falling further as investors grow more concerned about mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The Dow Jones industrials are down more than 220 points and have dropped below the 11,000 mark for the first time in two years.

We're a nation of whiners
Are sky high gas prices causing you financial hardship?
Have you been caught in the meltdown in the housing and mortgage market?
Laid off as your company either is driven into bankruptcy while the CEO takes home a billion dollar "severance" package, or ships your job overseas?
Food prices taking bigger and bigger chunks out of your wallet?
Not to worry! See, it's all in your head! You're not really having any problems, you're just a whiner! Just ask Phil Gramm, who is a general co-chair of the McCain presidential campaign and McCain's chief economic adviser. He says the nation's financial woes are "mental," and not real, and that we're all just a "nation of whiners."
Thanks, Phil. What a relief.

McCain is senile
John Sydney McCain III must be senile. There may be other explanations, but the most charitable explanation is that he is senile... How else to explain the many, many times he's asked about something he said, only to have him deny he said it, and then to see video after video of him saying what he denied he said? Here's yet another example:

Video shows woman dying, while people watch and do nothing
A mental patient falls out of her chair, writhes on the ground, and dies... all on video, all while security guards and other people walk by, look at her, and ignore her.
File under "Falling through the cracks" and "This is what loneliness means"
And let us pat ourselves on the back for the wonderful culture we've created for ourselves.
Hospital video shows no one helped dying woman
